Ellie ensures that research continuously shapes our thinking and underpins our work at the Centre for Education and Youth, as well as supporting the team to conduct high quality, robust research that leads to changes in policy and practice. Ellie brings experience of Psychology research and the early years to the team and believes that excellent education should be available to all children and young people. She has carried out research into widening participation, youth homelessness and the impact of literacy interventions in prisons. She is the co-author of a series of three reports on inequalities in higher education with King’s College London’s Widening Participation department. Ellie also supports organisations to develop their practice and has conducted impact evaluations for a range of social enterprises to help them manage and achieve their aims.

She previously worked as a reception teacher having joined the founding cohort of the Teach First Early Years programme and worked alongside Teach First to develop the Early Years Programme and as a researcher for Teach First and the Behavioural Insights Team. She has been a governor and was the Chair of the Teach First South West Action Network.
