Much of Simon’s professional work has centred around his vocation of teaching, the education system and supporting young people from the early years right up to university age. His wide range of experiences within the sector has additionally included roles in youth and community work, tutoring, supporting SEND pupils, leading diversity and inclusion programmes for budding teachers, and mentoring students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
As a postgraduate student in 2022, he broadened his repertoire outside of classroom practice to develop academic specialisms in education policy, international education and teachers’ professional development. This culminated in a 16,000 word dissertation on the historic state of the teaching profession in England and the current crisis in teacher recruitment and retention.
Outside of education, Simon has also spent nearly two years in political campaigning and advocacy as a parliamentary assistant for a London MP during the pandemic. And most recently, he has pivoted into the world of creative content and cultural strategy for brands in the music industry, with an ongoing mission to highlight the stories and contributions of marginalised people within culture and the arts.
Simon is a BEd graduate in Primary Bilingual Education from St. Mary’s University College (Queen’s University Belfast), and holds a MA degree in Education, Policy and Society from King’s College London.
