Schools buildings chaos: CfEY Associate speaks on Evening Standard podcast about RAAC and the poor state of the school estate

Billy Huband-Thompson, CfEY Associate, spoke with Mark Blunden on Evening Standard’s ‘The Leader’ podcast about reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (RAAC) and the safety concerns that have left school leaders scrambling to sort out contingency and evacuation plans. Billy argued that a lack of investment has seen a decline in the quality and safety of the school estate, with the National Audit Office estimating that around 700,000 pupils are learning in a school that the responsible body or DfE feels is in need of major rebuilding and refurbishment.
