We’re looking for Young Experts
by Abi Angus
4th December 2023
Get paid to make change happen!
A part-time, paid opportunity for people aged 16-25 who live, work or study in Buckinghamshire or Sussex.
- £12 p/h (paid monthly, around £1,300 total)
- Approx. 2 days a month
- February – September 2024
We are looking for young people who might have had difficult times and want to use their experiences to make things better for other people in their community.
We are especially keen to hear from you if you:
- are disabled, have a long-term health condition and/or are neurodivergent
- are care experienced
- who are young carers
- have been in trouble with the police.
You will be trained, paid and supported to research an issue or problem that has affected you and/or other people you know. Then you will work with adult Changemakers with jobs linked to your research, to design a solution based on your research.
We’ve been funded by the Rothschilds Foundation and the Blagrave Trust to run this project because we think that young people who navigated education, health, care and justice systems often have the best ideas about how to improve them. We want to learn from you and give you the tools to make things better for all young people in Buckinghamshire and Sussex!
This is the second year we have run this project, some of the Young Experts who took part in 2023 told us what they enjoyed about the project:
“Talking to the ‘change maker’ as you feel that you can make a real difference in the topic that you are researching.”
“I enjoyed the aim of the project – trying to make a difference”
“I learned that we all have very different ways of managing and learning things, as well as everyone has dfferent skills which they then used in their research”
Find out more! If you have any questions, or just want to chat about the project and what getting involved might look like, Whatsapp, call or email Abi on 07470346781 or [email protected]
Interested?
If you would like to be one of our Young Experts this year, then please fill in the short form below online, on paper, or by sending us a video/voice recording of your answers to the questions by email ([email protected]).
The closing date for applications is Sunday 21st January 2024.
We will get back to you by Friday 26th January to let you know if we would like to talk to you more about the role and your interests.
If this sounds up your street, but you aren’t based in Sussex or Buckinghamshire, then you might be interested in joining the CfEY Young Collective – more details can be found here.
