Teacher apprenticeships – the solution to the recruitment crisis? CfEY’s Head of Policy discusses on Sky News

With the government announcing its new pilot into the apprenticeship based approach to Initial Teacher Training, Baz Ramaiah, CfEY’s Head of Policy, joined Sky News to discuss the policy and the impact it might have on the teacher workforce. Baz argued that the route is unlikely to solve the fundamental drivers of teacher recruitment and retention – pay and workload – and runs the risk of deprofessionalising teaching.
