On Tuesday March 5th, CfEY’s Head of Policy, Baz Ramaiah, presented to a group of 40 AHRC-funded PhD students on how the diminishing role of the arts in secondary schools is affecting the country’s skills pipeline for creative industries. Speaking in his capacity as Head of Policy at The Cultural Learning Alliance, Baz highlighted the ‘leaks’ in the skills pipeline that come from the increasing number of schools not offering arts subjects at GCSE and A-level and the recruitment and retention crisis in arts teaching.
