Launch of our Primary Careers Resources Platform

8th October 2020

We are delighted to announce the launch of the Primary Careers Resources Platform, which we’ve created in partnership with the Careers & Enterprise Company and Marmelo Digitial. This new platform builds on the legacy of the YSA toolkit and our research into making careers education age-appropriate, and provides easy-to-use tools, information and resources to help primary educators deliver and embed career-related learning in their settings.

CfEY conducted an extensive consultation with practitioners, school leaders, parents, employers and SEND specialists in order to identify need and gaps in support. We then curated the platform’s content. We’ve collected case studies and relevant research too, showing the different forms that career-related learning at primary can take.

Career-related learning in primary schools is about broadening pupil’s horizons, challenging stereotypes and helping them develop the skills and sense of self that will enable them to reach their full potential. It can have a lasting impact on pupils’ perceptions of different occupations and how these link to learning in school.

Tools and resources on the Primary Careers Resources Platform will help:

  • Empower teachers to develop, embed and enhance career-related learning in their school
  • Inspire teachers to find ways to creatively link the school’s curriculum to the world of work
  • Engage parents and employers in career-related learning

What is career-related learning like in your primary school? Take the quiz through @CareerEnt and @TheCFEY's #PrimaryPlatform to find out where next steps are for you and your school, and access the free, quality-assured resources here:… Click To Tweet

Whether you’re new to career-related learning or have been doing it for some time, this platform will help develop an approach that will broaden pupils’ horizons. The resources showcased on the platform are free to download and are from a range of organisations that have been funded to test what works in careers education at primary level.
