Education and Youth Homelessness: the golden thread

We were delighted to welcome London Live to the Southbank Centre for the launch of A Place to Call Home.

Hear Yasmin bravely share her story. As she explains, schools do not always know what to do when pupils find themselves homeless and end up feeling they have to exclude them.

Yet as Ellie and Iesha explain, homeless young people desperately need schools to remain a golden-thread of stability in their otherwise chaotic lives.

Of course, that’s not easy, but as Iesha explains in her TES article, there are practical steps schools can take, like training staff who have key pastoral responsibilities to spot the signs so they can signpost to services such as family mediation and bereavement counselling.
