Today we have published a new report on supporting vulnerable young people through Covid-19 including 15 ‘Ideas for Action’.

Schools leaders and teachers are showing remarkable ingenuity and dedication in rising to the challenge of the current pandemic but no-one should have to take these challenges on alone. We therefore wanted to bring professionals together to share their emerging responses and identify ‘Ideas for Action’ that could help to protect the most vulnerable young people in our society at this uniquely challenging time.

This report provides a short summary of the roundtable discussion that took place on Friday 27th March’ alongside over 100 survey responses. The discussion involved ten speakers alongside a contributing audience of nearly 200 individuals.

Over 100 teachers and school leaders, approximately 50 wider youth sector professionals and 30 policy makers signed up for the session We received survey responses from over 100 participants which are also included as an appendix to the report. A recording of the full discussion can the found on The Centre for Education and Youth’s YouTube Channel.

We know that schools cannot do this on their own, and as we move beyond the initial response to the coronavirus, we hope this short report and the discussions that surround it will help professionals from different services coordinate their response to some of the pandemic’s less immediate or obvious implications.
