#001 – CfEY LIVE: Empowering Young People through Conservation Education
31st January 2022
This episode of The Youth and Education Podcast is the first in our new series, ‘CfEY LIVE’, where members of the team discuss the research we are currently working on with key stakeholders, including practitioners in the sector and young people.
CfEY’s Vanessa Joshua is joined by colleague Baz Ramaiah and Nic Buckley, Conservation Education and Engagement Manager at Chester Zoo, to discuss a project focused on understanding the landscape of conservation education in the UK. CfEY is working with Chester Zoo to building a strategic approach towards campaigning and influencing policymakers to increase the prominence of conservation in the education system.
In this episode, Vanessa, Baz and Nic discuss:
- Why conservation education is important
- What can be done to support schools to embed conservation education
- How environmental learning can be used to make young people feel empowered not powerless
